Check out piper.yazi which lets you use any command output as the preview content.

Building on what @sxyazi said, here's some instructions on how to get it going. I'd recommend the hydai/eml2md rust tool, but it requires a little work-around bc it doesn't have a "print inline" option for it--still very fast tho.

1. Install yazi's piper plugin

   ya pkg add yazi-rs/plugins:piper

2. Clone and build eml2md

   # Clones to .local, but you can clone it wherever
   mkdir -p ~/.local/src
   git clone https://github.com/hydai/eml2md ~/.local/src/eml2md
   cd ~/.local/src/eml2md
   cargo build --release

3. Install bat

   nix-env -i bat

4. Add this to prepend_previewers in your ~/.config/yazi/yazi.toml

eml2md takes an .eml file ($1 as yazi passes it in yazi.toml) via the -i flag, then the little inline shell snippet creates a file in your temp directory as the -o flag, then pipes it through bat for colored render, then deletes the temp file once it's done.
