Describe the question

This is a follow-up to #4015.

I don't know if this is intended or not, although it feels confusing for sure.

I have several videos that wouldn't open in mpv with yazi. I was playing with xdg-open and accidentally discovered that for those videos, the a handler wasn't configured in ~/.config/mimeapps.list. (i.e. video/MP2T=mpv.desktop).

After setting the handler for all the media mime types I had, yazi started working, so I tested it by removing them from mimeapps.list, and yazi stopped working, confirming this is actually the case.

I find it unusual, since yazi's yazi.toml > open.rules configuration should take precedence over user/system mimetype configuration.

If it was configured to "open", then I understand it uses xdg-open, but play should work regardless?

To be clear all is working now and I don't expect any fix from yazi side, just leaving this here in case someone else has this problem.

I just realised that the default play opener uses xgd-open https://github.com/sxyazi/yazi/blob/shipped/yazi-config/preset/yazi-default.toml#L38-L45.. my bad.
