A structured collection of Python learning exercises by Javad Gazmeh, a Mechanical Engineering M.Sc. student at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
This repository documents my programming foundations as I work toward applications in engineering, automation and data analysis.
| Folder | Focus |
|---|---|
| 01-basics-and-syntax | Python syntax and basic programming concepts |
| 02-numbers | Numbers and mathematical operations |
| 03-strings | Strings and text processing |
| 04-dictionaries-and-sets | Dictionaries and sets |
| 05-conditionals | Conditional statements and decision logic |
| 06-loops-and-random | Iteration and random operations |
Install Python 3 and Git, then clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/jvd1990/python-fundamentals.git
cd python-fundamentalsChoose a .py file from a topic folder and run it with its actual relative path:
python3 <topic-folder>/<script-name>.pyReplace the placeholders with an existing folder and filename. On Windows, use py if python3 is unavailable. For interactive exercises, follow the prompts in the terminal.
These are learning exercises and a record of my progress. My next areas of study are numerical computing, engineering data analysis and machine learning with NumPy, pandas, Matplotlib and scikit-learn.
My background combines industrial maintenance experience with graduate studies in mechanical engineering. I am interested in automation, control and simulation.
